Grand to Grand Ultra

 The closest international airport, to Kanab, Utah, is the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada (200 miles).
We recommend participants fly into this airport when coming from abroad as there are plentiful scheduled flights and lots of good deals.

We recommend participants then use one of two methods of ground transport to reach Kanab from Las Vegas:

  1. Book a seat for shuttle bus transfers.  (details to book seats are provided to participants)
  2. Car Rental - there are numerous car rental agencies at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Driving from Las Vegas, Nevada
Distance: approx. 200 miles

The drive takes approximately 3.5 hours (Remember that Kanab, Utah, is on Mountain Time, an hour ahead of Nevada and California). Take I-15 north from Las Vegas. Drive approximately 6 miles past St. George, Utah and take exit 16 (Hwy 9) into Hurricane, Utah. Go approximately 10 miles and turn right at the Hurricane, Utah, Main Street traffic light. Go one block and turn left at the 4-way stop onto Hwy 59. Drive approximately 55 miles into Fredonia, Arizona. Turn left (north) at the stop sign onto Highway 89, and drive 7 miles into Kanab, Utah.

From Salt Lake City,
Utah Distance: approx. 350 miles

The drive takes about 6 hours. From Salt Lake City proceed south on I-15 to either state Route 28, U.S. 50, I-70, state Route 20, or state Route 14, all of which connect with U. S. 89 and continue south on U. S 89 to Kanab, Utah.

From Phoenix, Arizona
Distance: approx. 350 miles

The drive takes about 6.5 hours. Take Hwy I-17 north to Flagstaff, then Hwy 89 north through Page, Arizona, to Kanab. (Note: Arizona does not observe daylight savings time, so from April to October it is effectively on Pacific Time an hour earlier than Kanab.)

Important: In the interest of safety, and to avoid fines, please observe speed limits. Also, mule deer are plentiful in the area year round, so take care when driving - particularly from dusk to dawn.
